I don't know, I just feel that the main designs of the US coins haven't changed in 70-100 years. They do occasionally switch up the reverse, but I would like to see everything have a brand new design, just to change up things. What are your opinions?
I would love to see a return to a classic Liberty obv. design. If we must have a person, the 2005 Buffalo nickel wasn't too bad, especially the reverse.
the buffalo nickel is one of my favorites. I loved all of the incarnations of Lady Liberty, and how the designs would change so frequently.
Out of all the coins in circulation that need a redesign, the dime needs one badly. It has had the same design for 65 years now; A different bust of Roosevelt (one like one of Jefferson in the 2006 nickel redesign) and a new reverse design (maybe something like the Mercury dime's?) would be welcome. Personally, I want to see the quarter adopt a permanent design again. I was hoping for one after 2008, but then they announced the D.C. & U.S. Territories (and later, the National Parks) program.
This is actually one of the reasons I cut my type set off at 1964 -- the obverse designs have stagnated and the reverse designs on some series are changed so often it is hard to keep up, so I figure as might as well cut it off at the natural composition change year and call it good. I would love to see a change in aesthetic that moves away from flat old presidents and more toward classical motifs, but hey, that's just me.
