There are many Chine's notes that have foreign bank names on the note, for example France, Great Britain, United States, Russia and other countries. Also Japan occupied some Chine's territory during World War 2. There are also some Japan's notes with Chine's language overprints that where used in China during World War 2.

The notes of the Yokohama Specie Bank for use in China were issued between 1880-1920 or so. This was a time when hundreds of different banknotes were issued in China many by foreign banks like this one. They were often printed in English so western businessmen and others in China could read the notes and know their value.

Many foreign nations had banks doing business in China, Russia had Russo-Asiatic Bank, there was Sino-Scandinavian Bank, even USA companies owned banks in China for commerce.

In Japan from 1870s on up to present day they have English text on reverse of notes. Notes of 1870s were very similar to USA notes because they were printed by Continental Banknote Company in the USA.

Many Chinese banknotes were printed by American Banknote Company in the USA and were up to 1949 when the socialist came to power on mainland of China.
