I feel a bit guilty over this one (not really lol) I watched it go unbid on with a starting bid of double list price... no bids.. was relisted with a starting bid just over list... still no bids and then another just under list and last night was again relisted at 60% list obo (yes it's been on my watch list for months now lol) I offered 50% and it was accepted very quickly lol... I can't say why I kept going back to this coin. She's a bit "ugly" but she radiates "history" to me. I think I'll enjoy this coin more then my bright shiny one... bottom 2 pics "ngc's" and I had to lighten them as they were very very dark...
Like you say, a little on the ugly side, but hey, if the price was right... Ugly coins need lovin' too.
I'll say XF-40. Lot of detail hiding below the grunge and abused holder. I'd give it some thought on re-holdering and some NGC conservation.
Sadly there is a lot of barber stuff that sits unsold like this for long periods. Nice stuff. But not the most popular series.
I can agree with that. I said VF35 because I think the reverse pulls it down, lots of wear on the eagle. Give us an "after" picture if you get conservation.
Yeah, 40 seems like a fair grade for that. I see luster, but not much. The level of wear feels right for XF. As for eye appeal... this is the kind of coin that just shows honest wear and natural darkening with age. It isn't the most attractive, but there's nothing wrong with it. And, if you got a good price on it? Great!
I was at 30. It’s not the prettiest. And almost an environment damage. Honestly I wonder what a good acetone soak would doc
I've decided to send it in to NGC with the 3 92 morgans for conservation and grading.. we'll see how they do
Oh my.... none of these pics do the coin justice it has some serious dark luster... the full pics from the seller give strong hints but I just can't catch it with the camera... no so sure about the conservation bit now lol she is a dark beauty best 3 shots i got but they don't show the luster at all...
