Sorry, but it isn't worth over face. Just a minor off-center. Glad you noticed it though; those are pretty interesting.

You know this Paper Money stuff is really pretty interesting reading.
One of the books I picked up recently cites this Series as being an EK star from sheets with 3,840,000 notes printed.
I say too bad it has all the circulation marks as they list it at $50 in Choice Uncirculated. I would suppose that in its current condition it is worth face value but I have nothing to base that off of except what has been posted already. The off center printing is pretty cool. Does anyone know how this happens?

Mike: I disagree with the assessment of coinmaster1 and mpcusa alike. Many people collect all the star notes they find regardless of condition. Star notes are fewer in existence than are non-stars. If you can afford to hang on to the note, try to. While the note has been circulated and is not worth more than face at this time, another 20 years down the road may change that when they are yet still harder to come by. At that time, the slight off centering may help that value a touch for some (not all) collectors, but ultimately the true off center 'error' notes take on greater value when they error is significant enough that it runs off the margin and the edge of the following note begins to show. Another reason for holding on to this note, may be to help a fellow collector at some future point in time. A collector who may be looking for a common grade note to fill a hole, someone collecting on a budget, or some other reason... let it go now and these opportunties slip away. These are just contrary thoughts to the others and by no means imply any value lies in this note at this time, but it is sure a lot of fun to find star notes.

Once again, I agree with krispy on this one. I collect stars in any condition and as I am able to. If you can tuck the note away and not have to spend it, it could bring a premium in the future. I would say in it's current condition, it would bring face value to $1.25 premium due to it being a newer issue and in the VF+-XF condition. Stars of notes of this series and older basically have to be in a state of no folds of a slight crease to bring higher premiums; however, that might change in 5-10 years. As the notes circulate and become damaged, those in better condition will increase in price.

I also purchase any star notes I find in my cash register! I deal exclusivly with two dollar notes and have aquired many star notes! My most recent find was today actually of a 2006 $20 star in pretty decent shape, no tears and marks just a slight fold from being in a wallet maybe once! I like it :] Many one dollar stars and some fives aswell. More for my grandchildren or nieces or nephews!
