Nice 1878 Morgan

New in this collecting buisness, this coin was passed down in my family and i was wondering how much it was worth, any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Thats a nice one. I'd guess anywhere between $30 and $100 not graded (raw) like it is. That is an S mint mark on the reverse right? Make sure you keep taking super good care of it!!!

 

Nice 1878 -S , 8 tailfeathers It looks MS-63 to me , hope you're storing it in some protection , not just an envelope . If it is an MS-63 GRADE ABOUT $200 . But it could be a High AU
THEN IT WOULD ONLY BE WORTH ABOUT $100 . Don't clean it or wipe it with anything , not even a soft cloth . That would really devalue it . Nice coin .

Sorry my bad it's not a 8 tailfeather like I 1st thought and looks more like a AU-58 . i AGREE WITH LOWFLYING ON THE PRICE .

Good deal. I thought so, but couldn't zoom in to check for some reason.

 

Some 1878 coins were made with 8 tail feathers , later changed to 7 TFs , there's even one with 7 over 8 tail feathers , but these were all from the Philly Mint , not San Fransisco
like yours . Sorry about that .

AU58 if the wear is there... if not, MS64.

MS64 and around $90 would be a guess. NIce looking coin.
