Roman Coin?... Or Italian Chuck E Cheese token?

I found this in a roll of nickels. I've been to Rome 3 times so I'm leaning towards a beat up souvonier, but still thought it was neat to find in a box of nickels. It's the same diameter of a nickel, Color is gold, and it's only a little thicker than aluminum from a pop can. It's pretty beat up. One site has a pic of the St. Peter monument in Rome where the pope speaks, and the other side has what looks like the same image only a little different.

I can't tell what the obverse and what the reverse is so I'll post both. I stink at pictures but this is enough to get an idea.

    PICTURE 1

    PICTURE 2

Pic 2 isn't that bad of quality, that side just happens to be so beat up you can't make much out. It looks like it's the St. Peter monument by where the pope speaks though again.

I have no hope that it's anything great, but thought I'd post it here since it's a neat find (whatever it is) for a roll of nickels.

    Ideas?

That's St Peters Basilica (the Vatican, Rome), alright, I cant tell. Is there any lettering on the edge or the rim?

Looks like a tourist souvenir to me too. I like the idea about Carlo E. Formaggio's, though. Ha Ha

Thanks, rdwarrior. I've been there a few times and even saw the pope speak once (to my surprise it was like an international pep rally.) I love Rome and recall all the street vendors. I'm still leaning toward a souvenir token but I'm far from an expert on anything coin related. Nice to get the name of the place. Still unsure if this is actual currency or not.

Edit: my thoughts as well blsmothermon. I don't know how I didn't hit up Carlo E. Fromaggio's while I was there. *insert my fail here*
