I was just curious if anyone else has found one of these before. I am at a loss. its hard to tell in the pics but it looks practically new, its just yellow. I placed it in between a 2010 dime and an '89 dime for comparison thinking maybe its just age but again its a completely different color from the newer and older dime. http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j36/widemouthmason/Mobile Uploads/IMG_9874.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j36/widemouthmason/Mobile Uploads/IMG_5168.jpg
definitely not reflection, I found it in a 5 dollar roll because it stood out against all the regular ones. as for luster It looks like silver that needs to be cleaned even though its not silver
Thats not really a conclusive experiment. Each coin tones differently. Some won't turn color at all, same year or not. I break open 50 year old original bank wrapped rolls and every coin is different, some with gold toning, others with color, and some with no change in color at all. This is just my guess about your coin. Not conclusive by any means. lol
Looks typical for light Nickel based toning especially if the coin hasn't been in circulation much. Oils from human contact tend to protect from nickel from environmental toning. Also like mentioned above a little heat causes Nickel to turn a straw color.
