I have been trying to search everywhere for these books. Haven't had any luck finding it. Does anyone have these books? Hundred Years of Indian Coinage by Dr. K. N. Sharif The Coins of the British Commonwealth of Nations to the end of the reign of George VI, 1952 Part 4 INDIA Volume 2 UNIFORM COINAGE East India Company 1835-58 Imperial period 1858-1947 by F. Pridmore
While I couldn't find any hits for Hundred Years... on Amazon UK, Abe Books, nor Biblio.com, Biblio is a good source for rare books, Abe is great for finding sellers in many countries and Google Books came closest with a snippet view. Same thing for The Coins of the British Commonwealth. If you already are or become a member of the ANA you can search and take advantage of the Dwight N.Manley Numismatic Library Another resource with membership, is the ANS Numismatic Library
That's Volume 1... he's looking for Volume 2. We all are. It's next to impossible to find. I can easily see Volume 2 going for double the cost of Volume 1... it's getting that ridiculous. The demand is clearly there, so you have to wonder if they will ever reprint these books. Anyone know when the copyright runs out? Personally, I can't say I'd take the chance buy a book for $500+ that might very well be back on the market in a few years for $19.99 on Amazon.
Pretty bad... but I'm not paying over $200 for any book. That said, I wonder what the legal ramifications of distributing scanned copies of an out of print book. Heck, I'd be willing to pay $50 for the copy and even send $50 to Pridmore's estate to keep the lawyers happy.
Anything Well, I heard that the publishers that published the books dont exist anymore. So do the publishers that published KN Sharif. I went to a hobby store in Chennai, India yesterday and the shop keeper asked me Rs 1000 ($25) just to make a photocopy of a Pridmore book. I said, "Thanks, I don't want to do that"
Hi: Check out Suvarna Mohur : India's Glorious History illustrated through Rare Coins. Suvarna Mohur presents a bouquet of 133 rare Indian coins which, in the author’s opinion, are best illustrative of our country’s antiquity, ethos and traditions. You may also want to check out the website www.suvarnamohur.com
You can try scott semans, his website is coincoin.com Also you can try the ANA library, they lend to members through the mail for the cost of postage. I've done that a few times. Cheaper than buying the book. Pridmore is out of print and impossible to find. I have a copy that I bought about 20 years ago. It occasionally shows up in Steve Album auctions too, but is expensive. Doug Saville would also be a good place to look, as would Charles Davis.
