I'm a silver coin guy at heart, but I finally found my first star note the other day. From what I can gather, this particular note is from a set that was very limited in production and might have some value to it. Unfortunately, it is not in the best condition. There are no tares or ink on it, but it is a little "wrinkled". Does the rarity of the note trump the condition, or is this pretty much just worth the dollar's worth of soda I can buy with it? Thanks, Christian
Series 2006 - 640,000 star notes printed for this district. Stars are great to find! Congrats. I hold on to all I find irregardless of condition but yes rarity can help value despite condition, yet in this case I do not feel it does being that you can certainly find others in much better and ChCU / GEM condition. Your note looks pretty rough and worth face in that condition, not all that rare really. For your reference: Star note reference
Thanks for the reply. Yes, that's the reference I used to determine that it was a more "rare" edition, but I wasn't sure how much detriment the condition caused me. I suppose I'll keep it due to the "coolness" factor, but darn I was hoping to sell it for an ounce of silver. Cheers, Christian
Condition does seriously effect a notes value, but in truly rare notes, even low grade notes with few surviving examples, value can be many times face. This is simply a new Series and they are still abundant.
Cool. Well, I will keep it then. Who knows what the future brings? Plus, it's only a buck for crying out loud.
Fun indeed. I never really bothered to look before. Same with coins. I hate to think what may have passed through my hands before I was enlightened!
Fortunately for me I knew to look when this came out of a atm. I also hate to think how many I missed before I started looking!

Great finds guys! I for one, keep all stars I find. You never know when they may become rarer in the future, even from a high run.
