Well, I keep up with the Prez Dollars (I can already see some of you squirm and make sour faces). Just for fun I decided to look up 2011 designs. You can view them here http://presidentialdollarguide.com/2011-presidential-dollar-designs/ And I couldn't help but wonder, "Couldn't trim up your beard before posing for a coin President Hayes?" Then I began to wonder, "Who's the best and worst dressed of the series so far?" Opinions welcomed! (I'll post my votes in a bit...)
I dislike the James Madisons because from a distance, the area above his lip looks like he has a little piece of unruly facial hair which makes him look like a bum...
I like them, too. Started collecting the proofs, so of course I can't stop now. However, I do think Andrew Jackson looks a bit scruffy.
thanks for that..my son (zechyscoins) is all excited now! as far as my favorite I like the abraham lincoln.....least favorite is definitley james madison!
Somehow they made Lincoln, an unusually ugly human being, look pretty good! Its got to be one of my favorites too. Adams looks like a bowling ball on a pedestal IMO. A big fat pedestal. But you know what they say......... Having your picture put on a coin always adds about ten pounds.........
Ok, two worst dressed: I'm still going with Hayes. That beard has to have a bird or two living inside! Also, Jackson looks as if he was drug out of bed with a hang over. Plus, his hair is wild. Get a haircut, you presidential hippy! Best dressed, I think Pierce looks to be a fashionable fellow. I also agree with mpcusa in that Grant looks well dressed for his dollar pose. Can't help but wonder how the others will turn out. Anyone have sources as to where they obtain the images for sculpting into the coin?
