Personally, I want a permanent reverse to return to the quarter. I have nothing against the programs the Mint has been doing since 1999, but there comes a point where it's a bit much to have one coin seem to be in a perpetual state of them.

I'll admit that when the State Quarters program was nearing its end, I was hoping for a new permanent design for the quarter (I think adopting the eagle design from the Sacagawea Dollar, with modifications, would make a great reverse). I do agree that it would also be nice to see a new bust of Washington.

Oooo No Sir! Too much money to be made with these quarter programs! I'm just curious what will come after the ATB?
Now I'm not sure if the die makers are very happy having their work load quadrupled over the last decade?

    Thanks Stewart!

My thoughts exactly. I know people that can and do turn everything into something political. I'm very glad that for the most part the subject is usually avoided here.

Amen brother...T.Roosevelt is the perfect President to be represented on the obverse of the quarter given the theme of the series. With Washington, it seems a little awkward...awkward in the same sense that it would've been awkward to put a President other than Lincoln on the obverse of the 2009 cent.

Me too. I think Roosevelt's association with the National Parks would have made him the best candidate for ATB quarters.

But our coins need a face lift in general. Kennedy has been on the half since 1964. Washington on the quarter since 1932. FDR on the dime since 1946. Jefferson on the nickel since 1938. Lincoln on the penny since 1909!!! Designs that get away from the Presidents would be refreshing and would attract a lot of interest from the general public.

If Congress would get the cojones to actually and finally eliminate the dollar bill, people would begin to actually use dollar coins and there would be a great opportunity to design a really interesting dollar coin. The Sacagawea is okay, but I'd like to see something a lot more classical.

Their would of been NO nation NO parks without Washington! Just saying... You guys need to not to alway think like numismatist! The average Joe would freak out if you took Washington off the Quarter and replaced him with TR, and in this climate it would be seen as the progressive invasion of the Mint. Remember the 'In God we Trust' up roar with the 07-08 Pres Dollars.

    Come on now! Group hug!!!

    Well...

Ron, with all respect, and I think I can say this without being political:

Even Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson are on a half dollar. It's hard to think of any perspective that is as controversial as what those two did.

If Washington was removed from the quarter tomorrow, you would still have 79 years worth of Quarters with his profile on it.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

I can not argue with that... But you know as well as I if there was a open vote tomorrow what the out come would be...

Hey lets talk about changing that dang Dime!!! I vote going back to using classic Liberty head designs (Call me a hipocrit [IMG])... BTW: I LOVE the Buchanan spouse Liberty coin. I have the Bronze version, and I can't put it down!!! MUST BUY MORE!!!

Uhhh, when I am taking a break from the world and all the discord, corruption, in fighting
and political maneuvering. The only thing in the world I want to think like is a Numismatist
when I am playing with my coin collection or talking with other collectors
    on a coin forum.;)

I truly understand what you are trying to say. Your thinking about Joe Six Pack
freaking out if Washington was taken off the quarter. Outside of the coin collecting community very very few people even know that we have had no less than 5 different
reverses on the Lincoln Cent in the last two years. This includes a large number of
bank personnel who's livelihood is made in the world of money. And when it has been pointed out to them. the response is always the same. "Wow I did not know that"
and they throw it in their pocket or bank till and the subject changes to something else.
