Just curious to see how everyone else is doing. I am finding about seven a roll of pre 1982. I'm too lazy to weigh the 1982's so I'm sure I'm turning a few of those in. Hoping to fill a cider jug.
In Texas I am finding an average of 45%. Also a complete sealed box from the bank yields about 4-8 wheat cents. Mostly 1950s. However today I found a 1928 F-12. Wish I could find more wheaties.
My average is about the same, maybe a little more fifty. Just curious, what part of the country are you located. I'm wondering if there are different averages for different parts of the country.
Here in Oregon I'm averaging 24%. Last night I was sitting at the dining room table searching rolls of cents, dropped a cent on the floor and my Schnauzer "Freddy" (pictured here on the left) tried to eat it. Had to make him spit it out and got him a Milk Bone dog bisquit instead. I guess coin collecting really is a family hobby!
20%-30% with 5-8 wheaties per box, along with typically at least 2 red AU/MS 196x's. Pull a RD/High RB wheatie once every $125 or so.
I just thought Id share, I got $10 worth of cents last night and ended up with 33% copper+5 wheats and a 69 S
They have never let me get an entire box all at one time so idk how much different that would be for me.
I have a friend who completely refuses to take any coppers out of his cent rolls. He claims that it is pointless. All I can say is wow.
If your going through the cents anyhow, why not take the few extra seconds and pull them out? Who knows haha
