I have one umm word... well not a word, more like a belch http://www.monnaiedeparis.com/actualite/hello-kitty.htm
Nice... "Only Available for France and surrounding countries buyers. " You North Americans and Eastern Europeans and Asians bugger off.:rolling:
May have to do with distribution agreements. For example, I am not allowed to buy directly from the Finnish and Swiss mints ... And those Hello Kitty thingies were parimarily made for the Asian (mostly Japanese) market. Only a small part of the production is actually available here in Europe. And who would want them here anyway? The previous coins in that "series" - Cinderella, Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland, Hänsel & Gretel, Aladdin, etc. - were similarly ugly in my opinion. But they had at least something to do with fairy (and other popular) tales, less with comic strip characters. Christian
I think my country needs to mint Hello Kitty stuff so I can sell to the Japanese. I will even undercut the Monnaie de Paris on prices. So far my country has only ventured into paper money, but haven't printed any since 2004. Maybe it is time to fire up the presses and sell Hello Kitty paper money and for the American market Bart Simpson paper money etc.
You might want to tell Mr Putin about that (sigh). As for attractive paper money, I got a neat bogus note today: A "Hell bank Note" with some Asian temple on one side and Marilyn Monroe on the other. Now something like that may be an opportunity too ... Christian
Well, now you people could buy those pieces while I cannot. "Vente dans tous les pays sauf Allemagne, Italie et Japon." http://www.monnaiedeparis.fr/actualite/hello-kitty.htm Gee, will I survive without a Kitty coin?? I'll try. Christian
They are tackey to say the least but who knows it might get some kids involved in the hobby so berhaps its not all bad De Orc
Hooray, Something really tacky and repulsive just occurred and we Americans had absolutely nothing to do with it. Even the French can't blame G.W. Bush for those Atrocious, round, metal things.
Apparently the French Mint changed the wording of their "Hello Kitty" coin listing. Now it says: "Available in all countries except Germany, Italy and Japan" Does this have something to do with the World War II Axis?
Why would anyone want to make a "COIN?" with a "Hello Kitty" image on the front? A poor representation of their country in my opinion.
Changed? Well, that is the same text that I posted in msg #9 here. Or maybe with the Huns and ancient Romans ... or some world conspiracy. Don't think that has anything to do with representing a country. Just like those similarly awful "Il était une fois" fairy tales coins before, or the China pieces. As for Japan, for example, most of the Kitty pieces are sold there anyway - only a small portion is available from the Monnaie de Paris. Christian
Hi, i think you're right - the ukrainian coins and banknotes a very boring in my eyes. The belorussian don't have coins only banknotes dd: ("Saitse") and the russian coins aren't better - only the commerorative coins are very interessting. Greetings El Buitre
