For those of you who maintain an inventory, how often do you update its value?

I assume the larger your collection the less often you do this.
It can be a LOT of work.
And it's particularly tough for dealers since their inventory is (hopefully) constantly changing.
I try to do mine once a year and I use RETAIL values (Coin Values) since I base my insurance coverage on replacement value.
And there's no way I could replace my collection based on Greysheet values.

I keep an inventory, but value isn't important to me, so like Mike, never.

I just spent a ton of time entering each coin in my collection into NGC's new FREE (plug, plug) collection manager service.

This on line system will automatically update the value of your collection based on Numismedia fair price value.

I'm still only about 80% complete though. And it took hours and hours of my time to do it.

I have never kept a value on my collection. Race that sounds like a cool NGC service where can I find it?

Heritage Auction Gallery offers a free spreadsheet program with continuous updating as well. I have used it for years and have never received any junk mail or use restriction from them.

I lost interest in updating/determining the value of my collection back in the mid to late 70's. i'm interested in what I have, not what it is worth.

I do inventory 2x per year. In April and October. Just a way to keep me updated on things, to organize, to decide whether or not I'm tired of some items and disperse of them and just the joy of looking at my collection.
