Went to my favorite teller today picked up 50 stars, one had a seriel number I think might be a birthday note. G 01961621 * not sure how that works though. I also got 4 consecutive $2 from 2003 and 4 consecutive $2 from 1976 all 8 of the 2's are very nice condition wise I mean not fold or creased they look fairly new. I think I did fine for face value. Not sure if they are worth anything but I like em.
Okay i got some fresh crisp 2003 consecutive $2 star notes from the bank. I don't know if they're worth more than face value but I like them .
Found a 1963D $1 note (A89685048A) and received a 1974 $10 note (B16524248I) in change from my bank after dumping some halves.

What is the reason for keeping all those different notes? I don't want to sound dumb, but what do those letters or combinations of letters mean? I keep star notes if they fall into the 640,000 or less catagory otherwise I spend them.
I never said that I kept them... Those are merely the results of what I found from going through one dollar bills. Guess how many of those star notes I kept? Zero, I sent them all back into circulation because I don't care about stars. Here is what I do keep: all pre-1995 notes with duplicates being made available for trade. I will keep the '95s if they are in high-grade of condition or if the note comes from a rare block, such as that FW 295 error that I found.
288,960,000 printed. Guidebook values, high as they tend to be, in ChCU for that district and series is only $4.50. Even fst only asks that much for your notes' SN block in ChCU. Condition of your note looks to be around a 30 or 35 Fine grade. I'd be surprized if you could get $.50 over face in that condition especially since there's nothing else special about it like a fancy SN. Just has too much wear and is too common a note with conditional minuses working against it. Still works as a place holder if you need one.
Am I seeing things or is the 5 and 7 on the right serial number set higher than the other numbers? Just curious if that is some kind of error or is it common to see that?
This is common and not an error in this case. This example is not significant enough to have misprinted/unprinted digits to be an 'error' such as these examples of stuck digits.
My Best Finds From 2010 From my local bank, the teller there called me when it came in - got this one in July: A nice light green seal note on a bit scarcer district. This one was an incredible find I made in a small bank in rural California during a trip out there in August: And to think, I really wanted one of these because I like red seals, and rare notes. The same bank had original rolls of 1978 Ike dollars when I was there last time back in 2005.
So close yet so far. Found a 2006 $1 serial number G 35869853 F. Might keep it just because it is kind of cool, but so far this is about as far as I have gotten to a good serial number...
