this is not my auction. i was just wondering if this is an error/die clash on the reverse? it looks like an outline of the indian princess bleeding through. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3913708422 i almost bid on it. would it have been worth it?
Bearing in mind that I do not specialize in errors (and a die clash is considered an error) I would say that $40 - $50 would be a fair price for the coin in the condition it appeared in the photo. To an error collector, it could have been worth more though - I will let someone who specializes in that field respond. As die clashes go it was a pretty nice one. I have only seen an IH cent with a clash on the obverse personally.
As it just so happens - I know the winning bidder on this. So once he gets the coin - I'll let you guys know how it turned out
Better get some glasses there Satootoko - I know at least 3 error collectors who bid on that coin. And every one of them was raving about the die clash
look at the line going through the c on cent and follow it up, see at the end of the line, it looks like the chin is wrapping around the o on one. kind of cool huh. i think i lost a keeper..... ebay gunshy for good reason........
Well my friend got his coin and he has new pics. As expected it is a very nice die clash You can see nearly a full outline of the princess on the reverse You've got a pretty good eye there pog - this may be a new variety. Not sure about that yet though. But this is an excellent example of what a sharp eye and a bit of knowledge can do for you when looking at coins. die clash Indian cent
