not often you get a coin thats 45 years old from a local supermarket in such good shape. i wonder if there was a roll of them. i know theres different variations of the canada 1965 small cent can any one tell me if there value or what variation it is thanks guys, and girls ,also how would you grade this,is it a common find?
It's the pointed "5" large beads that your looking for: http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php?coin=1-cent-1965&years=1-cent-1965-2010
I can't tell 100% from the pics but your's appears to be small beads, pointed 5. I have about 2,000 of these that I went through looking for large beads. Didn't find a single one. Condition would be AU or BU but they are so common it's only worth the copper content - about 3 cents.
Finding one cent coins from the 60's in nice shape has actually become common, I am assuming alot of coin hoards and penny jars are re-entering circulation because of the recent recession.
thanks i have alot of cents from the 60's i must look at the others to search for the large bead. thanks
OK, I can't tell any differences in the ones I have. I just started the Canadian circulated cent pages in a 3 ring binder. What's a good Cent reference book to get ? Thanks, gary
I use the Charlton Canadian Coins. It has some of the varieties listed and is a good all around guide. http://www.charltonpress.com/Numismatics2.asp
