Hi new here and looking for help already! Had this coin for 15+ years and never really got round to identifying it. Seen a lot like it but none the same. I saw one like it which was a fortune telling coin and not currency. Any one have any clues?? Thanks for any help you can give.
It looks Chinese, but fairly recent. Here's a link that might help. http://www.calgarycoin.com/reference/china/chinaid.htm
Thanks for the reply. Cant seem to find it on that website but it's a link worth saving. Think you're right about it being modern cant remember went I got it but 20 years ago at most but it might not have been that old then. Guess i'll keep looking. Cheers
This is another good site for identifying Chinese coins and charms: http://www.sportstune.com/chinese/index.html
It's a Chinese charm. The Chinese characters are read in the following order: right, left, top, bottom. The inscription is ji xiang ru yi which translates as "May your good fortune be according to your wish!" The reverse side of the charm has images of a dragon (right) and phoenix (left). The dragon and phoenix paired together is a traditional symbol of marriage. Your charm is modern. If you have an interest, some of my old "dragon and phoenix" marriage charms can be seen here. Gary
