I found something a little odd on this quarter, here's a picture, tell me what you think. I'm at best, an amateur coin collector, so please go easy :smile

All I see is a circulated coin. What makes you think it is an error?

Its a weird wear if it were one, if it were a wear then wouldn't the D in God and the W in we be worn as well? Also The P is barely there while the rest of the coin is perfect. Thats the only thing that makes me think it's odd, but like I said, I am an amatuer :)

These are striking characteristics rather than true errors. Apparently the dies were plugged up with a little debris in a few of the letters. Typically this is caused by grease filling the holes that would have been letters. Lubricants are used throughout the process to help the planchets and feed mechanisms and it's not unusual for this and other debris to fill design details. Sometimes these will even drop out and be impressed into a coin and these are valuable. Sometimes also this effect can be very extreme and much of the detail is obscured. These can have a substantial premium sometimes.

Wear on a coin always starts on the high points. If you tip the coin sideways you can see these high points up above the coin surface. This is where the luster (shinyness) is first worn through and it will appear grey at this point. This means the coin is worn beyond unc and becomes AU (almost unc).

Anything that you see below the high points is probably either some sort of damage or a striking characteristic as the coin will wear and get thinner from the top down mostly.
