Could have been sent in for grading before and came back as damaged if it's bad enough or long enough ago. Given what makes its way into a 63 slab these days, and the excellent fields and booming luster (At least in the photos) of this coin, I think it would hit 63 at a minimum.

Thanks Race, appreciate it. I just started working at a coin shop and now I get to see all of the Morgans that come thru. Like being a kid in a candy store. Too bad I can't afford everything I like that comes thru. Although I have picked up 3 Carson City Morgans. 2 are in the GSA cases an '82 and an '84. I picked up a raw 1883CC that I'm going to send in to have graded. Hoping to get it graded at least MS-63 PL.

I will go with my 1879 morgan because I love the character of this coin.

Yeah, you have no idea as to how hard it is trying to practice "restraint". A couple of the guys just went to the FUN show in Florida. If I went to the FUN show, I would have taken out a second mortgage on my house before I left, and would've come back with some really nice Morgans, and a really ticked off wife.

I just got to FUN. Last year I came home with IOU's after blowing all my funds day one. Hopefully this year I will be busy and wont spend as much.

    Todd,

I have been meaning to ask you a question and your post about the FUN sale just reminded me. While parousing the Heritage FUN auction catalog, I came across some incredibly toned 1880-S Morgan Dollars. The peculiar part was that the photos just don't fit the profile of a typical Heritage photo. After looking at them online, they immediately struck me as your work. Does Heritage hire you to perform photographic services for toned coins and more importantly, can a consignor request that their coins be photographed by you?

Here are the links to the three lots that look like your work to me.

Here's mine, probably an MS-63. That hit on the nose might be a bit too much for choice. Bought raw in an airtite for $25. Nice little purchase.

    or
    just a coin hit

It might have to do with his talk at 3:30 Friday at FUN on 11 VAMs for 2011.
