OK, for a while now I have wanted to pick up a 2009 Lincoln proof set...just the 4 proof cents. I have just been putting it off.

I seem to remember when the sets came out, the normal proof sets had the 99% zinc cents and the silver proof sets had the 95% copper cents. Is that correct? Are there 2 different metal combination's of the proof cents? I want to make sure the cents I buy are 95% copper.

The copper proofs were in a set of just the cents and the zinc proofs were in the regular proof sets. Don't know which were in the silver proof sets.

2009 was an exciting year for cents. The following were available:

P&D in 4 varieties (8 total): Circulation (Zinc)
P&D in 4 varieties (8 total): Mint Set (Copper)
S in 4 varieties (4 total): Proof & Silver Proof Sets (Copper)

I count a total of 20 coins to get them all.

The 95% copper proof cents also came in a cent proof set as well, if you didn't want all the other proof coins.

So, am I understanding this correctly...that all 2009 proof cents are 95% copper?

What about the Satins? where do they fit in? I am so confused now. I thought I figured it out when I bought one of the SGS 20 coin sets. It's not a bad set, certainly not MS70 coins lol. nice (in)complete? set regardless.

OK, that answers my question. So, any proof set I get will be 95% copper. That makes it easier. Now, what would you say is a fair price for a mint packaged 4-piece cent proof set (just the cents, no other 2009 coins)?

  11. IMO, anything less than $12.90 ($7.95 original price + $4.95 shipping) would be a fair price. TC

I think it depends what exactly you are looking for. While I have several of the Mint sets, I keep an eye out for them on the bay.

Back in the spring I was thrilled for a set of all (4) S Mint proofs in PCGS 69DCAM slabs for $40 delivered

Then about 2 weeks ago, I got another set of 4 PCGS 67DCAM for $16.16

To me that is just silly ridiculous low. Forget about the PCGS thing, I think having them in those type of tight holders, nicely labeled and recorded off site is worth $10 at a minimum for any coin. But that is just me. I also like to be able to handle them and have set Abe free from his plastic coffin many a time. :) confused yet?

Fair price is what you think, not what someone else thinks. Collect what you like!

Has anyone seen any TPG holders that contain all 4 coins besides the chronicles thingy.

No "fair price" is what the thing sells for. I wanted to know how much I should expect to pay for a mint packaged (not TPG slabbed) set of these 4 cents. There is a going price for those. Perhaps I'm not willing to spend that much but perhaps I am. I wanted to know what that approximate price was.

I just got delivery on a set for a total of $14.24. Lots of them on eBay, take your pick

Looks like in the the neighborhood of $15 whether certified or not. :)
