Since I don't collect too much currency , working on my type coin set around $3-4000 this year . rzage
Currency varies depending on what cool finds come along! But last year i spent roughly $4,000 on currency. Now coins is another story! I plan about $20-$40k this year , and spent $89k on coins this year, but rather quickly flipped those... I might have a budget, but if something neat comes along my budget holds no water....
For currency, I'm budgeting $6,000 - $8,000. It depends on what's available for the sets I want to add to. For coins, probably $2,000 -$3,000.
Lol. U guys are spending more on currency than i make in a year. Im gonna say hopefully 400 or so. Trying to start up an MPC set.
I've tried to set a budget several years but when a great deal comes along ,at least with me I go for it by justifying the overspending by saying "this is too good to pass up ". So I can't stay on a paper/coin budget & then feel like I didn't hold to my resolution.
hahaha, house hunting leaves my budget at like $50/ month. As soon as I get a ohuse though, the budget is being cranked right back up. I need stars, obsoletes and large size in at least VF. Good thing my wife doesn't read these posts...
Don't have a set dollar amount to budget toward collecting, but if I did I'd say it will drop substantially this year as I'll be instead spending upwards of 40K a year to send two kids to college. Guy
Well the sellers accepted our offer on their house! So now that's finished, I have 60 days of no money towards notes and then I'm free to go back buying.
lol you say that now, wait till you buy a house and will need repairs. I am in your shoes right now and hoping to have someone buy our house (actually a condo) so that we can move into a bigger house lol
Congrats on the new house, the'll be plenty of notes & auctions down the road to pick & choose from, the prices of house's are fantastic for buyers now ,good move at the right time !
Thanks for the congratulations. We couldn't beat the price and the interest rates, so we took the plunge. It's actually our first house, so pretty exciting for us. I talked to her at lunch and told her that to celebrate in my own way I'm taking a stop over to the coin shop today...
I am trying to learn about the value of paper money as my interest in it has grown lately. I have seen some really nice displays by many members here. I recently searched out a US Banknote that I really liked as a member here had posted a very nice example of a $10 note. I spent almost $50 on it as my first purchase. I can see where this hobby would get expensive very fast. How do you guys budget your buying habits? For me I do not have free floating expendable cash to buy what I would really like, numeral notes of 1928. So I suppose I will say $200.00 as an estimate. Based on what I have seen this shold yield about 4 banknotes for me.
It,s best to start out slow until you get the knack of what your collecting, it,s easy to over Pay for something if you dont know what your doing! education is the key
