moneyer12 i just love UK coins.......

you lot in the states are so lucky, with all the coin fairs, etc that you have the nearest one to me is over an hours drive away. i wish we had specialist fairs like this one for military money, i have quite a large collection of military notes and tokens from around the world, i have concentrated on the UK issues and have now accuired the complete collection from WW2 onwards, my others contain such oddities as danish hospital ship currency, ukraine karbovanets with the swastika on them, french and belgian military issues, and a decent collection of MPC's, but the pride of my collection is actually a WW1 1 franc token from the british expeditionary force.

We don't all have it so lucky in the US. The nearest coin fair (we call them coin shows on this side of the Atlantic) to me is a three hour drive. The MPCFest is a 10 hour drive for me but worth every minute of it. Most attendees at the MPCFest fly in. There is a small contingent that drives down from Canada.

If anyone plans to go and would like to meet up, please let me know. I live a little over an hour away and would like to meet up.

If you live close enough and don't want to spend the entire weekwnd at the Fest, there is a bourse with about 12 dealers on Friday from 10:00 to 5:00. They are all paper money sellers although they mix some coins and other military related ephemera in. It is free and open to the public.

sorry no but the token is in superb condition with a lovely dark brown patina, i bought it 3 years ago at a coin fair for the princely sum of £1.50p, but i am certain it is worth a lot more but i can't find a catalogue for military tokens, other interesting military tokens i have are 2 NAAFI tokens from WW2 for use in europe anad 1 from egypt, a WW2 10cent token from US military command at bad soden, but the BEF token is my absolute favourite.
