I bought this today from my local coin shop, its 40% struck off center. Also when I got home I noticed that line running from the stairs down to the 'd' in united, is that a die crack? How much do you think this is worth? I paid $14.00, I search nickel boxes ALOT and I just know I wouldn't find an error like this.Enjoy the pics.

    That's pretty cool, but I think it's more like 55-60% off-center.

Looks like about a 60 %er to me too. Great addition to your collection...

That coin appears to have a lot going on, off-center, die crack, die polishing lines, full steps.

Without being an expert in the error field, I would say you did good for $14 dollars.

I would go even further to say that that coin should be encapsulated.

Congrats! Personally, 14 is too high for me.

  10. I like it. Decent buy for $14 plus no shipping. Enjoy, TC

    That is a great coin!

As for price.....I don't think you got a steal, but if you are happy with it, it is a good buy!! You certainly were not taken!!!! That is one cool coin.

Why pay $20 to $30 to encapsiulate a $14 coin?

It's not like you need them to tell you what it is or whether it is genuine. Does grade really matter?

I personally think it is unique, in that it is a off-center strike and a die crack in one, with FS to boot.

The Jefferson Nickel Error Collector may put a higher value in this coin than $14, especially if authenticated, attributed, and graded by a TPG.

Unless the die crack or Full Steps if it has any are legit, it's not worth grading.
I mean, no date. So, you won't know if that has FS that are rare or really good for that year.

I think you did great for $14. That is certainly a coin most don't see very often. I would be happy to find it for what you paid. Thanks for posting!

Thanks for the input and comments. I had never purchased an error before, the original price was $18.50 , I shop there a lot so it was dropped to $14.00. I might get it encapsulated , when I get extra cash. Thanks again, oh yea I said 40% because that's what was written on the holder it came in.
