We must be overlooking the same things. ;)

    • The pictures resemble two of the three varieties of KM#636, except for the dates
    • The weight is correct, but the diameter is 7% too large for KM#636
    • According to Krause the double-dating system with a large authorization date and a small issue date inside the mintmark stars began in 1868, but this coin's large date is 1820
    • KM#636.1 only has an 1868 small date, and KM#636.3 only has an 1873 small date. Both have 1868 large dates.
    • As you point out, the large date is 13 years before Isabel II took the throne, and the small date is the year after her renunciation of the throne.

Krause may not be perfect, but all of the sources I checked on Google agree that Isabel II reigned from 1833-68, so the 1820 date is just plain [IMG]

And furthermore, when she ascended to the throne in 1833,she was only 3 years old.
I'm not sure what the person who created it was thinking.
Here she is at the tender age of 15.

    Short answer - no.

In most cases I would be quite careful about buying coins from folks in Mexico.
