Another article reposted from The California Numismatist, by Dr. Sol Taylor, on the scarcity of the new-design Lincoln cents in circulation, at least in southern California; and on pricing of the same.
I'd have to strongly disagree with him. It seems in my area of Socal they're pretty common. I bet one in five cents I get back in change are of the 2010 design. Maybe he needs to get out more. Guy
Some areas still aren't seeing them though. So for I have seen three 2009 cents (1 LP1, 2 LP2) and three 2010 cents.
I am roll searching Lincoln cents today and am finding plenty of 2009's and 2010's, mostly P's though. TC
I just went through a cup of them looking for a double thumb. Log cabin and Lincoln on the log are what I see the most while roll searching
I went through 2 Boxes and it seemed that every roll had about 13 2010's. I guess Dr. Taylor lives in Alaska, but in Texas they are not scarce at all.
In my area, about every one in thirty is a new 2010 cent. Picked a couple to keep, now just letting the others circulate.
I find the 2010's even here in Canada. Over the last couple of months I've saved about 20 of them out of the till.
The new Lincolns are certainly alive and well here in Georgia. I wish I would find fewer of them while roll searching and in change.
