    The damage conveniently destroyed an important identifier on the reverse - the 'N' in ONE. A genuine business strike 1877 IHC has a weak 'N'. Genuine or not it is still an interesting find.

    Definitely a good space filler. If you are curious you could always send it to a TPG for a genuine slab.

    My book goes on about the date. Everything I see there looks legit.

    I agree. I don't see anything to indicate it is fake. Iif it is genuine t's a real shame such a nice example was destroyed. I find it hard to believe an 1877 IHC - even a severely damaged example - was found in a roll of culls. If I had found it I probably would have had a heart attack.

    lol i was trying not to get too ahead of myself and get excited, anyways i think i may keep this coin since i have a pretty good collections of cents going now
