@krispy: Are you going to continue to derail the thread. Besides, why do you care? Let's stop derailing the thread because I don't want the mods to close/ delete it. It started off good, and let's keep it that way.
No, it's not good enough. We can't even see the grade on the slab you claim and the image is too blurry to grade-- and YOU (vnickels) didn't post the pic, so you don't have the coin.
Krispy....... His V nickels are "beloved"! If he didn't have any, what could he be loving? This is proof enough for me!..................
Hmm... but he DID gain at least one point for converting someone to his ideology... I'd say he's neither down or up by any number right now, perhaps a complacent zero? lol
Nothing has been derailed. I'm looking for evidence that vnickels really says he is what he says he is and has the coins he claims he has to back up his words. Anything else is dishonest and misleading.
he's a zero alright... nothing to show for himself to substantiate his claims of god of the v-nickels.
Just show some proof that you own any v nickels or stop claiming you are the god of vnickels and creating threads about them to have others share their v nickels when you haven't any to share with us.
Dealer? You gave away a few notes in CT contests. I said you were dishonest in claiming you have coins you cannot prove you have, let along boast yourself as a self proclaimed god of v nickels. So ridiculous.
What? Post your pics for free on photobucket (free accounts) like the rest of CT members do then place the image url here so the image displays in the thread.
I wouldn't like to ban YNs as they are crucial for next generations of up and coming collectors but these things really test the strength and quality of threads now and then.
Fine, then regulate their activity to elsewhere, or perhaps a YN-centered forum for them to post all their rantings and ravings in. The matter of the fact is that the vast majority lack the maturity to carry on proper discourse with adults.
I think regardless if he can produce pictures of v nickels or not, he should explain what makes him the coin talk expert on the subject. There are some pretty knowledgeable guys on this board and IMO it's a brave statement to claim to be THE expert/god of any series. I'm betting there are guys with complete sets of a certain series that they have been studying for years that wouldn't self proclaim themselves the "god" of said series.
Guys, enough. This is getting out of hand. First and foremost, there is nothing wrong with Young Numismatists on this forum. Keep in mind I am one, and people, for the most part have only good things to say about myself. I've proven time and time again that I am always willing to learn and teach others. I've written great, well thought out threads, and have made great posts on various matters. There are very few Young Numismatists that stick around in this hobby and that is because of society's initial thought of the hobby, and what other's think about them or treat them. (This doesn't exclude Coin Forums by any means!) vnickels has failed to prove to anyone that the coins are indeed his. He has a friend posting pictures of the coin for him, and it is hard to understand why he couldn't post them himself. He is a self proclaimed God of a series and has never posted a single photo of his coins. (Until now, although he still hasn't posted coins himself.) Now, I've been in vnickels shoes before, frantically trying to prove coins were mine, and defend myself. I get it. I learned from my experiences and moved on, and evolved into a better numismatists because of it. vnickels, you are entering dangerous territory by calling yourself the God of vnickels, referring to the series as your series, and never even posting a coin that you own. This makes a bad name for yourself, not to mention Young Numismatists. Here is a big suggestion, let's get this thread back on track, and vnickels how about posting some of your own coins in a different thread, in which you will start. Make the thread well written and thought out. Make yourself a better numismatist, write a fantastic write up on your journey with the series along with pictures of your coins.
Hmm...let me try to get this thread back on track with a slightly different debate. Now, nickel lovers, don't jump down my throat, but I will openly state I generally detest nickles. Jeffersons-don't like the design of the obverse (until recently with the forward facing portrait) and Monticello is such a boring building architecturally. Buffaloes, an ugly beast for a reverse with difficult varieties and dates and mint marks are generally worn to be unidentifiable. V nickels-a darn "V' on the reverse, odd history, and they look horrible when worn. Furthermore, most nickels are an odd intermediate weight between my cherished dimes and heavier coins and lack the sort of art I can appreciate. So, there you have it...the reasons why I don't, and probably never will, collect nickels. I'm open for persuasion, but they better be good points...
Indian Head/Buffalo nickels, to me the quintessential American coin. That would be my argument to you. I do not have a great collection, but have some MS type 1's that always bring a smile when I view them.
Well, the V nickel does look ugly when worn, but the figure in Mint State is beautiful. And the V is gorgeous. Buffalo nickels are a pain when worn, yes. The jefferson nickel though is fun and doesn't cost too much money. Now I am no jefferson expert, but the coin is a lot better than some ugly coins the U.S. has made. Full Steps though get a little crazy but that's the fun of the hobby. Westward Journey nickels are ok... but that's just another money makin scheme the mint devised.
