i like to search for coins more than buy them. I was wondering what places other than my local bank sell rolled coins or even bulk bags. Like the rest of you i would prefer them to be unsearched, but you never know who is out looking. Do you guys know any trustworthy websites who sell bulk coins? I really like wheaties and older nickels. Thanks for any help, Devil

I understand, and I said a $1000 face so a bag like that goes for in the neighborhood of 23K lol. You could try Ebay but i never trust the "unsearched" bag gimick.
Try your local grocery stores. I've had good luck finding oldies and silver in rolls from there. As for buying bags, the cents might be more affordable for you, however, if you buy them online, be assured they've been picked through. Haha sorry I misunderstood that first post. I really do not trust those "unsearched" things either. Why would a person happen to have 1000's of wheaties and coins laying round and not have searched them? The local banks seem to be the most trustworthy "sellers" to me. Unfourtunately I live in a rather small town and the bank doesnt typically carry a ton of rolled coins. I like to get a fresh batch of coins about every week or two. There are a few other branches around my house so I will try mixing it up. I am not to worried about this I was just looking to see if there was a better way to get some more coins quicker. Plus you can't beat the deal at the bank: All the coins you can buy at face value. If you don't want them you can sell them back for face value. How lovely
This is a little long term, but you could ask friends and relatives to save you their pocket change. You'd be surprised how many people have coffee cans or jars full of pennies that they've just never bothered to roll to take to the bank.
Thank you to my grandparents who save there pocket change and have produced a number of wheats. My mom who had saved a few cool coins from when she was young had a buffalo, but being naive she decided to put its eye out via pencil >:/ haha o well. Ok, now lets play a fun little game. This is going to determine what kind of coins I will get when I hit the bank monday. I have $32 dollars give or take that I plan to spend. There are 4 types of coins I am after give me a number 1-4 then a number 1-8. This will determine what kinds of coins and how many i will get since it is almost always based on luck. I like little games like this to help my young mind focus while collecting
Welcome to the forum!! Many are like me and accumulated them over the decades, intending to search them at some time before expiration. But time in later life seems so much more valuable than years ago, so most linger unsearched. Also many were searched for rare dates and not for Repunched mint marks or minor doubling, things which require a lot of patience and good vision. Again Welcome ! Jim
Interesting thoughts from everyone. I enjoy hearing the different views. I wonder if i could find someone locally who sells these "lots" where i could go see some of these coins then buy them in bulk. I don't know. I love this tricky coin hunting game
Because they have better things to do with their time. Well lets not say better, more like other things they would rather be doing. When I worked in a shop we bought wheat and we never bothered to look through them because w knew that the odds were stacked so high against us that we could do better working other deals and leaving the searching to our customer that bought the wheats.
your 3 and 5 has determined that i will buy halves next time i head to the bank. hopefully something will turn up. Thanks for the numbers. I'll post tommorow after i began checking out my coins.
