Hopefully there will be an 1883 Morgan in my stocking....since I bought it and gave it to my wife to put there!
I usually ask for books because I think they're the easiest things for my family to pick up. This year I got the Cherrypickers' Guide and my Dad's got a couple thousand pennies he's been saving for awhile so I'm super excited to start looking through them.
No idea what Santa has for me. I've been playing Santa these past few weeks for myself by focusing on the 1893-1895 Morgans and a new camera, copy stand, and lighting set up. At the coin show, I bought my dad some G-F Barber Dimes, the Merc dime Dansco Album, and the Barber dime Dansco album. And I gave him some spending money for the show. HA! We'll see what's under the tree this morning! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Santa brought me a Brunton 7x18 magnifing glass and a Canon SD1300 digital camera. The magnifing glass is great for looking at my coins and the camera is already taking much better photos. I now need to find a good camera stand.
My son got me the Redbook guide to Lincoln Cents and a bag of rolls to search. They are CWR's and some are the old solid red colored ones. I can't wait to get into them. gary
I got the Intercept albums I wanted and while visiting Atlanta we got snow. Now today it's back to Dallas.....hopefully. I am glad to see lots of coin related gifts to all of us enthusiasts. Now on to this New Years thing. I just got to the point of knowing it was 2010 and now they are going to add one to it. Oh well.
This year for the collection, I got a 2005 and a 2011 Kookaburra. Now have 05 through 2011 with a double in there. Also got the 2010 New Zealand mint Taku Hawksbill sea turtle $2 1 oz bullion coin. Have always liked sea turtles so I thought that one was a beauty. Stuff like that, you can ask for as gifts and it can't get screwed up. Easy to find, easy to buy and you know they won't be cleaned, damaged or counterfeit.
I tried this for the first time this year. I needed a 2010 uncirculated mint set for my collection yet. So, I asked for that word for word. I still ended up with the proof set. I will keep it, and did not have it yet. But I can see the confusion of yearly sets if you are not a coin collector. Now I have an excuse to place an order, so it's not so bad.
