I purchased this last week. Bronze coin of KYME AIOLIS from the 3rd century BC. The size is 19.9 mm and 7.83 grams. Sear4191. Obverse- head of Amazon Kyme right, hair rolled. Reverse- KY above horse pacing right, A between legs; one-handled cup below raised foreleg.
Cute coin and all. Was there any special motivation for you? (Horses? Amazons?) The Wikipedia story (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyme_(Aeolis) is a nice sketch. I think that not exacting harbor taxes was clearly a benefit and perhaps special to their continued prosperity.
I like any of the coins with animal/bird motifs whether actual or mythological. Also, I seem to be leaning to the early years for coins. I've become enraptured with pre 100 BC. coins and would love to own some of the earliest examples (500 or 600 BC.).
