Have any of you heard of "90 Shilling" ale from Odell Brewing Company? They are based out of Fort Collins, Colorado.

I live a long way from Colorado ( I'm in Wisconsin) but I have a six pack of this stuff in my refrigerator right now. My brother occasionally travels between Colorado and Wisconsin. He knows how much I love both coin collecting and beer drinking so he sometimes brings me back a sixer (or two) of this stuff with him.

I really like the coin image on the beer label. Not only is the coin the largest design element but I also really enjoy the "wood-carved feel" of the label. I have to admit, the label was the only reason I bought my first one of these but the taste isn't half bad either. So now I have two reasons to drink this stuff.

For more information on this brew: http://odellbrewing.com/beers/classic/90_shilling

Now that I put beer on all your minds, let's see if we can get a discussion going on this topic. Have any of you ever encountered any other numismatic related beer or alcoholic beverage? Let's hear it! I will leave it up to you to decide what "numismatic related" means....

One time, I drank a bottle of Goldschlager with a bottle of Tequila and passed a gold peso.

I live in Colorado and I am familiar with that beer.

I live a long way from California but here are two coin-related beers produced by Alpine Beer Company in Alpine, CA -

    Nickel Stout

    Token Porter

    Sorry, no photos.

I live about 5 mins. from the Odell Brewery, and im not a drinker myself, but have toured the facility, and it's a nice place! I have buddy that works there packing the bottles and he gets lots of beer free! We have quite a few breweries in the area, Budweiser, Coors, Crabtree to name a few...

Not beer but still alcohol: Floryn, a Dutch jenever brand, recently started a campaign that gives you a replica of an old Dutch floryn (or florijn) coin with each bottle. Those are base metal pieces - seven different types - , but you also have a chance to win a silver or gold version. Here is the ad http://www.floryn.nl/images/media/Floryn_adv.jpg and these are the pieces http://www.floryn.nl/SpaarFloryn.aspx. Each of them can be enlarged.

(I think these links are directly accessible. But if you come across an age check, make sure you are at least 18, and enter a birth date in DD-MM-YYYY format.)

I just checked those out. Very neat! I think if I lived in Europe I might even be tempted into buying a bottle just for that.

I discovered and enjoyed that beer during ANA Summer Seminar in 2008. Very tasty beer. Not recommended for those who like insipid brew such as Miller Lite, Coors Lite, etc. Unfortunately, it does not seem to be available in Florida. Cheers.
