Good evening everyone, I was doing some late night Ebaying lately which is usually never good but I think I did well this time! I bought a lot of 8 uncirculated Roosevelt dimes and with shipping paid $17.10 total or about $2.14 each. The pics weren't that great so I didn't expect much, but I recieved them this evening and am definitely happy. I have been slowly putting together a nice collection of silver Roosevelts since they can be had fairly cheaply so I am definitely happy. I only have a Dino-lite for pics which is usually crap for taking pictures of silver but it does ok with the dimes since they are so small - not great but ok. 1946PRoosevelt0 by Johns Pic Page, on Flickr 1946PRoosevelt1 by Johns Pic Page, on Flickr 1951PRoosevelt0 by Johns Pic Page, on Flickr 1951PRoosevelt1 by Johns Pic Page, on Flickr 1954SRoosevelt.10 by Johns Pic Page, on Flickr 1954SRoosevelt.11 by Johns Pic Page, on Flickr 1954SRoosevelt.20 by Johns Pic Page, on Flickr 1954SRoosevelt.21 by Johns Pic Page, on Flickr 1955SRoosevelt0 by Johns Pic Page, on Flickr 1955SRoosevelt1 by Johns Pic Page, on Flickr 1957PRoosevelt.10 by Johns Pic Page, on Flickr 1957PRoosevelt.11 by Johns Pic Page, on Flickr 1957PRoosevelt.20 by Johns Pic Page, on Flickr 1957PRoosevelt.21 by Johns Pic Page, on Flickr 1962DRoosevelt0 by Johns Pic Page, on Flickr 1962DRoosevelt1 by Johns Pic Page, on Flickr
If you're putting together a full set, is it better to buy each coin separately or buy a pre-constructed set. I've seen a few full set of Roosevelts for a few hundred on mail order advertisments and on eBay. Just curious what the considerations are when considering which route to pursue.
Thanks everyone! GBandy: I guess it depends on what type of set you are putting together and what you can buy them for in ungraded condition. I want to go ahead and put together an uncirculated set but don't wanna drop sereval hundred dollars on one so I am piecing it together and will probably get a nice album for them once I get closer to completing it. I have seen quite a few sets or almost complete sets sell for close to or even below melt in circulated condition on ebay.
Good deal. It does seem like a lot of dealers haven't gone to the trouble of repricing a lot of the smaller silver coins, and the Roosevelts can be had for under melt in BU condition somewhat easily. Funny you posted this topic...I came home with 8 of them yesterday from my local shop for $16, and that included one which was a beautiful toned '56 that has to be a 66 which was priced at $4.50. So my average price was $2 apiece. I'm going to make a second trip there cause I left a few behind that were $2 or $1.75 Well done!
So do you think it will end up being less expensive to buy an already completed set? Or if you piece it together individually you are assured to get more quality pieces? I'm just curious, I've been advised by more than one dealer to buy already completed sets if possible due to the bulk discount. Thanks for the information! Greg
i have almost finished my full roosevelt set(all regular issues, proofs and satin finish coins). i have been buying them pretty much in singles. i have gotten some pretty good deals. only a few of the keys i paid a bit of money for.
