1979 half dollars

    Did you pay $1.50 each or $1.50 total? Based on the photos I would say you overpaid by either $0.50 or $2.00 depending on how you answered my question.

    $1.50 for both. Anyway, do you think they'd be worth much in like 25 years? Could be a great gift for my daughter.

    Unfortunately they will probably still be worth face value far into the future. But if 1979 is her birth year and you saved them for her, she may like them for sentimental reasons regardless of any book value.

    I see you're located in Alaska so maybe there aren't alot of half dollars up there. In the rest of the country they are pretty easy to get. Just ask a bank, chances are they have a few laying around. There is the common misconception that they are rare or valuable.

    Yeah. The next time I am at a town with a bank I'll make sure to do that. Sucky though for me because I live in a very small village in the middle of the barren slope in Alaska...lol kinda brought it on myself though! lol

    I wish my biggest mistake buying coins only cost me $2.
