Here it is Grade it please.and if you see a Vam detail it.95% are raw unedited& not filters no enhancements of any kind http://s216.photobucket.com/albums/cc290/amac44/79-S/?albumview=slideshow
That is a very nice coin. I'll give you $2 for it. Twice face value. HAHA! If it's not MS-65, I'd be shocked. Don't see any/many bag marks. Go! Get it graded! GO GO GO!!!
Right of eagle on reverse and upper cheek around the eye on the obverse give me concern. MS64. Not worth getting graded, imho.
This is a nice coin, but not a 65 coin. The contact mark on the cheek is in a focal area. Depending on who you send it to, you should expect a 63 and be very happy with a 64. This particular coin is common in high grades and really isn't worth submitting to a grading service. The last pictures are of an O mint.
it does not necessarily mean that they grade inconsistently, it just means that you cant grade a coin from photos, which is true, you could have 15 different grades from one set of pictures.
Grading companies are inconsistent. There is no way around that. I brought the point up because similar coins, like the ones pictured have graded lower than what the coin of which we are speaking graded. From the photos provided, I would still grade the coin at MS64. This is from the photos provided. I'm well aware of how to grade Morgans, (check my signature line) by standards of the ANA. Things can change from photos, quite drastically at times. The photos that are provided are sharp in detail. Notice how in the latest photo you can no longer see that mark near the nose and upper cheek bone. It makes me question if this is even the same coin. (I'm not saying it isn't, it is just at a different angle) From the 1st set of photos provided, this coin is a MS64.
I too have taken many ANA courses, so im no stranger to grading coins. But stating you know how to grade from photos is like grading in the dark.
That is a broad statement. Grading can be done with photos, it is never a guarantee. The thing I am presenting to you is this. There are clearly marks on that coin with the photos provided in the original post. Which is why 6 out of 7 people, other than the original poster in this thread, before the grades were revealed chose MS64 or MS63. Nobody can really grade from photos, I agree it is a shot in the dark, but when you are presented with sharp in detail photos, taken by a good photographer, you take the photo's "word for it." Even with the new photo, I still cannot agree with NGC's grade of MS66. (And because there is no way around this argument, if it were in hand, it may be different) But considering that all the photos that have been shown are of the same coin, and considering the quality of photos from the poster, I'd be willing to say that my opinion wouldn't change much.
Also the coins the OP is showing are two entirely different coins. Contact marks on the 66 posted are not there on the one in the original post.
Which changes everyone's opinions entirely, don't they? With that being said, I'd like to see pictures of that coin that was actually graded.
as would I. Its kind of obvious if you have any sort of knowledge they are two entirely different coins. Dont know what the OP is trying to do by showing two different coins, but their definitely not the same.
Since I know Jello, I was giving him the benefit of the doubt that it was just at a different angle, but yes, the marks are different, and they are different coins. Personally, I think he just made a mistake and nothing more.
