    Notice the grainy surface, indication of being cast. A real one of these would be worth more than $500 IMO.

    That doesn't make much sense. Why would they desire canceled mint dies when they could get tool steel rod much cheaper. The reason they stopped selling the canceled dies was because of slow sales. Collectors didn't have much interest in dies that had the entire face ground off making them just an anonymous lump of steel.
