ok, folks, here's an absolutely stunningly beautiful 1882 Indian Cent Proof hot off the Todd photo press! And you are the very first ones to see this little baby - it's not even on my website yet! It's so very pristine and much brighter in hand and has neon electric cobalt blue toning (don't know why it didn't get a cameo desigation)!
There's something about old proof copper. It makes the most fabulous toning. Lots of variety in color, both between coins and even on the same coin.
My oldest Proof Set: I resubmitted this Quarter as I thought it looked alot nicer than a PR64CAM [ it was once in an NGC 66 CAM holder ] The coin now resides in a PCGS 65 CAM Holder. The coin is currently at the Photographer for reimaging.
Thanks Speedie; the 1889 Proof set is for my Grandfather's Birthyear. I gave this collection to my Dad on his 75th birthday [ after my Dad passed away, I upgraded a couple of coins.] I also put together another set for my Grandmother - and its every bit as nice as the one I have for my Granddad. I remember my Grandmother telling me on more than one occasion, that she was born in 1898. To make a long story short, the truth came out this past Spring. She was born in 1891. She had lied about her age because she didn't want anyone knowing her true age. Needless to say - I was more than a bit disappointed. I also have a Near Gem to Premium Gem MS collection in all Mints dated 1898 as well. I sold off the 1898 Proof Set this past Summer at Summer FUN. I am now working on the correct year - 1891 - and I'm shy the Half and Morgan.
These used to be my oldest. Now, with the exception of the MPL's, this Barber Quarter would be the oldest
Here's my oldest Proof coin I have currently: A 1913 Matte Proof Lincoln cent, it WAS graded ANACS as PF-63 BN, I sent it off to NGC and it is in the mail as I speak. I hope it comes back as choice, but it has more of a chance of getting 63.
