I have a friend named Bill, that sells currency on eBay. I was recently looking for some of the new 2009 $1 Boston Star notes, and Bill had 3 up for auction. The only catch was that all 3 notes were damaged by someone opening the brick with a box cutter. Bill, (eBay shoes42279) is carefull to mention in the auction that the notes are damaged. The auction ended tonite with 13 bids, and selling for $104.07 plus shipping. The notes are from a small print run of 640,000......but OVER $100 for 3 DAMAGED NOTES ???? I almost can't believe it. I've got the photo of the 3 notes.....

BTW....I was able to purchase 2 (GEM) 2009 $1 Boston Star notes from the same run for less than half of this auction. I'll post photos when I get them in hand.

Isn't that crazy! WOW! That just goes to show you that the people of today don't pay attention, such as the fact that they could have bought what you did but instead they bought three damaged notes.

What are the chances they all have similar birthdays?

Wow, someone must have either missed that or just wasn't informed. Too bad for them, they'll never get that money back when they sell them.

I need to get some literature on paper notes. I know next to nothing about paper currency, but would very much like to learn. Those look very nice indeed.

  11. I am not seeing damage on the bottom note in that three note lot. Perhaps it's only noticible in hand. Too bad about the top 2.

I never fail to be amazed by the crazyness of ebay.

A friend of mine in another hobby lists something on there, which he has on his website for $10, and it sells for 100. Repeatedly. That isn't that hard to believe as it's brand new stuff he just made...BUT...he has a link to his website in each auction listing...the people still, repeatedly, spend $90 more than they have to if they just did a little reading.

Works out in the end though, as it finances him to put out the next release...
