1968 d error lincoln?

    I found a 1968 d penny that has just the top of the r in trust, is this an error?

    Without seeing the coin, I would have to say probably struck through grease.

    Not struck through grease. The coin took a hit, more than likely from a mechanical coin roller (crimper).

    Yep. Think of either a coin roller or those candy machines you put a penny, dime or quarter in and turn the knob.

    Coin wrapper damage. Happens on the outside two faces of crimped wrapped coins.
