hello everyone! Can anyone help me?? I have a coin, a finish 10 markkaa 1952 (mule) I am trying to find out a bit more about it... it looks very similar to this coin.. but it is 1952 and the roots on the tree are longer... i cannot seem to find anything out about it and i cannot read Finnish lol any help would be much appreciated wakey
I believe that the text 'Suomen tasavalta' reads as 'Finnish Republic' (or possible Commonwealth) and the 'Markkaa' is the curency. Hope that this is of some help De Orc :thumb:
Right, Finland issued markka (pl. markkaa) coins between 1860 and 1962, and then - after a 100-1 currency reform - new markka pieces between 1963 and 2001. As far as I know, this coin comes in two varieties concerning the roots of the tree. Don't think that as any effect on the value which is between 20 cents for a "fine" and $7 for a very well preserved (unc.) coin. 1952 is a little less common than 1953 ... Christian
It might be fun to see which variety of 1952 10 Markkaa you have. Variety I has three denticles under the "M". Variety II has two denticles under the "M", and the top of the "A" points between two denticles. Variety III has two denticles under the "M", and the top of the "A" points directly at a denticle.
