The U.S. Mint completely changed their site layout! Here's the link, of course. Same site, new design. What do you think? http://www.usmint.gov/
They get a new add (ad) guy? LOL. Thanks guys, didn't know about the change. Goin' to check it out now....
Why yes they did! And a pretty big well known branding firm at that, Siegel+Gale. It was announced over the Summer in August when the new logo began rolling out, from Coin Update [8/18/2010]
Just a side note here guys. Why the heck can't the mint issue a 90% silver half for the commemorative program? Clad is oh so gosh......
I know the answer... you were celebrating your anniversary, not to be concerned with Uncle Eddie's operation that day.
Has always bugged me too, but I figured they were trying to be diverse, not have to obtain more silver blanks and offer something to all budget types. The more I grow weary with the Mint, the more I wish all Mint products were produced only to actual demand, and only for that demand which could be met during the year of minting. I think they could really drop mintages to those who really wanted any item enough to pre-order them and in turn save a lot of money. Retail prices may increase but demand on the collector market would be greater if initial demand created a low mintage. Just something that seems worth investigating on their behalf.
I got to admit, I am quite impressed with the new layout and design of the mints website. Now this is a first impression, I would like to mess around with it for a bit and make a full impression. (like layout/functionality, ease of use etc..)
