Hello Everyone. This is my first post. I have been lurking around for a while trying to learn something and now here I am I guess. Reason for posting is because I have this coin that has been bothering me. Dealer said it was definitely silver, but didnt really know much past that. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

It doesn't matter if it's magnetic or not - it can be nickel-copper and it still doesn't help you. I'm sorry but if you can ask for a refund, please do so. Note these Chinese silver coins are rarely found for bullion prices these days - they are easily in terms of over hundred dollar if there is no chopmark (even in low grade) to over thousands of dollars depending on which province, rarity, grade, etc. Genuine Chinese silver coins are no longer cheap.
Ok so fake as can be. Haha good to know. I didnt pay for it by the way. Found it while cleaning out the basement to move. Bummer that its not worth millions though.
Kwang-Tung Province - Similar Dragon Well, I would still be happy to find that cleaning my basement, even if it is fake.... though I don't have a basement.... I don't have any from Hu-peh, but I have some genuine coins which are quite similar from Kwang Tung Province, smaller denomination though. Both are 1890 - 1908 silver 10 cents, Kwang-Tung Province. I did always like the dragon on these coins. Just thought I would share...
Small denomination silver coins can be affordable and genuine but they are usually from Eastern side of China, like Kwangtung and Hupeh. Other Chinese province coinage can be very expensive. Here's an attempt of me collecting Chinese coins: http://www.gxseries.com/numis/china/china_province.htm I have a lot to update but never got the time to do so.
