I'm taking a survey of all the Icelandic coins from 1922 to 1942 in all grades from EX-Fine and up for a book that I hope to publish in the next two years. All coins can be either raw or slabed by any of the TPG'er, Now I don't want you to post pictures of any coin that is slabed with the certifcation numbers on the slab in the picture because I don't want anyone to use your photo's. The objective of this book is to inform and educate collectors of Icelandic coins and to provide as much information as I possibly can since no one has really written anything about them. I have a web site www.coinoficeland.com but it has pretty much come to a stand still for a lack of a really good camera that could be used to take pictures like a member here Siggi has posted I would ask siggi to take the pictures but he's in Iceland and I'm here in the U.S. So if anyone would like to help I would greatly appreciate it and any picture you allow me to use in my book,,,You would be given credit for,,,,With your permission of course. I would also like to know of anything that might be a new varietry, mint error or anything that just odd about the coin. Thank you Gudni.... aka Tony To get this started i'm posting one of mine NGC MS-65 1937 25 Aurar Far 7 Now let's see your's.
Very doubted you will find many people in here who are collecting Icelandic coins. The oldest i have is 50 aurar from 1969 which seems to be BU.
Thats a great looking Jon comm...:thumb::thumb::thumb: Isn't that the EX-Eliasberg coin that was auction off a few years back Thank You Kurt.....I know you have some....LOL Yes I know Taxidermist that only a few people here collect these coins, But I know a few do have some nice one's.
Well... Thats close enough Lehigh96.....It's right next door. Its a beauity....I have been thinking about collecting some of Greenlands coins ..They are just as scarce, If not more then Icelandic coins
Its a nice one blsmothermom......Its almost impossible to find this 1942 10 and 25 Aurar with out the woodgrain look to it...I would guess thats because they used a very poor Zinc alloy...both of mine look like this. Thank you for showing use yours.
I remember that auction and I remember when you placed it in you Collector Soceity set. Here is one I sold about a year ago to pay for some Icelandic proof coins that was coming my way,,,Didn't want to sell it,,,But those proof's only come along once in a blue moon.
WOW.....That's a really beauitiful 1930 10 kronur comm, With super oringnal toning too. You see so many of them that have been dipped, Which to me ruins the coin. Some of these have a nice ..Gun metal toning that always reminds me of the early silver dollars from 1794 to 1804. Great looking piece...... :thumb::thumb::thumb: Thank you for showing us.....Do you have the other 2....2 and 5 Kronur's
No, Sorry to say I don't have the 2 or 5 Kronurs. I have never even seen one. Do you have any pics of these. My Krause does not even show them or the 10 KR.
