I was lucky enough to pick this up this morning. This is really a monster example and I grade it VF 20 details NET F. The darn thing is was wacked by something and has a wave to it...(this causes the weakness in the face BTW) but still a very hard coin to find.
I love the original skin! Very nice! This is the LM-1 R3 die marriage and is the most common (relatively speaking) of the four known die combinations. In terminal stages the obverse die crack extends from the first 18(0)0 to the drapery and on the reverse a bisecting die crack from I1 to M1. This example looks to be in the middle to late stages of the dies progression. On the obverse below 18(00) is actually a a rim break or rim crumbling rather than a cud or shifting die pieces. The weekness on the reverse eagle's tail feathers to rim (opposite the base of Liberty's bust) is common. The bend is common in these DBH10c and wouldn't really concern me. Also, many 1800 LM-1 were double struck early in the dies life.
