This 1964 Roosevelt has great detail except for the "IN WE and the 4 looks like it is lightly struck. I am new at this so I am using my own terms. I thought it was just the photo, but when I looked at it under a glass the photo is a true image. Can someone tell if this is an error or is it just the wear on the coin.
    Thanks

either greased fill die or normal wear n tear from the life of the dime.

See the rims on the coin's images? That is not wear, just nor formed on die. We know it was a full strike because of the gutter forming on the coin. It is not weakness as it is there.
    On this image:

I thought it might be a trial strike. It wasn't as the gutter next to rim is present. Here are a trial strike image:

If it were a worn coin the rims would be gone:

Check the images above and note the gutters next to the rim. Hope this helps.

That DOES help...very clear distinction now.

    Thanks!

    Second of two coins

I actually have two of these coins along with others that do not have the struck through. I enlarged both coins.
