This is what happens when the silver value outpaces the numismatic. There are tons of walking halves at my local store in a coffee can (approx 400), I sifted through them to find many 40's like yours, I was searching for teens and twenty's that I purchased at spot. Even found more than I could purchase that day.
Yup, Silver is high so you'll see some nice coins being sold as junk. Uncirculated Kenney halves, Roosevelt dimes and later Washington quarters are trading as junk. Enjoy it while you can I say.
