I can't stop buying these! Help!

Here is the one I got today. Do you dig it? Care to take a guess on grade? This is in an odler PCGS slab. When did they start designating Full Steps? I wonder if this may be full steps. Maybe? I don't have it in hand yet so I can't bust out the loupe and check.
Also, can someone please give me a pop report on this? *looking at lehigh.

Ok, its not a Jeeferson, it's a Jefferson!

WOW! Not an easy feat to get me to say that but you did it. Yes, I absolutely dig it. The grade has to be MS66. The surfaces are far too clean for MS65 and that one signficant mark on Monticello precludes MS67. I can't tell about the steps from photo but PCGS has been using the designation for a long time. In fact, they were more lenient in their application of the FS designation years ago and have tightened up considerably to be more in line with NGC's standards which are very high. Here is a link to some more on the PCGS standards but it doesn't provide a time frame.

Now back to the beautiful coin you posted. That toning is exceptional for a 70's Jefferson. Here are the pop reports for the 1975:

    MS65-----40
    MS66-----44
    MS67-----13

BTW, the PCGS registry collectors only really care about FS coins which enables guys like us to buy coins like this without having to amputate any limbs. Fantastic pickup!

Thanks for the kind words! It's a fantastic pickup if I didn't overpay. Sometimes my impulse gets the best of me.

Many a toning enthusiast would or should admit to the same. I need more than ten hands to count the times, that by all standards I had over-bid a coin. I finally learned to stop beating myself up over it and accept the fact, that what I paid, was what I was willing to pay, and that's O.K. But there have been times too, I have also won some coins, which were below reasonable cost expectations.

    It's a 66!
It looks as though it may be FS.
There is one tiny spot in the middle that could be flat.
They (PCGS) are crazy tough on the FS grade...

    Very nice strike.

    That Jeeferson is absolutely beautiful!

    Just couldn't resist :D

I do like toned Jefferson's, scratch that, I liked toned everything. This is an extremely nice looking toner.
I wouldn't disagree with MS66 grade, but from those pictures (as good as they are) I am very reluctant to call it FS.

I also agree with the 66, but it is closer to a 67 than a 65.
