Bought this 98 Morgan on the Bay today. What do you think the grade of this coin is? I might have overpaid a bit, but I love that crescent toning.

I'll go 64. The strike is strong and the reverse is very clean.

Thanks Hobo. I was torn between 63 and 64. Wasn't sure if the long bag mark between the E and P just below "E PLURIBUS" would keep it from being a 64. I appreciate your input.

    REALLY nice strike.
    I'd give her a 64 as well...
I am not quite sure how the graders handle the marks, as there are a few.
I think she could go 65 pretty easy except for a few prominent marks.

Why does the date look doubled in the pic?
Does it look that way in hand?

It got mailed today. I'll post in hand pics when I receive the coin. I guess that's the risk you take when you bid on an EBay photo. I've had pretty good luck with this seller before though.

Almost looks like a re-punched date from the pictures.

I would go with a 63 maybe 64, but not likely... The marks on the cheek is very concerning, and the marks by the E Pluribus and along the bottom of the neck and chin, and then the marks on the rim on the top of the reverse... I'd go 63, hate to be the debbie downer... I know it's inevitable that it's going be asked, but what'd you pay for it?

Well I paid $55. It was listed with a BIN of $59 with an obo option. I figured the seller thinks it's a 64, so I started low ball at $45, he came back at $57 so now I know he's selling it as a 64(although he made no claim as to grade, other than 'select BU') at that point, I'd fallen in love with the coin(always a bad thing, but it does happen) so I went back with a counter offer of $55 which he accepted forthwith; a good cautionary tale of how not to haggle/bid.

Heck worst case scenario, I lost out on $20 bucks, I'll eat at home for lunch tomorrow.

YEah in my opinion the price point is very minimal between 63 and 64. So that being said i wouldnt submit it, and if you sell it sell it as an MS-64 if your buying in the future by it one maybe two grades lower to cover your backside, still not a terrible pick-up!

I like it a lot and believe it to be a 64.

Looks like a 63+ coin...the marks on the cheek may limit the grade but the rest of the coin looks very clean so I don't think the coin would look out of place in an MS64 holder.

MS-64, only a few minor marks holding it back from a gem.

    Leadfoot there is no spoon

63 or 64, depending on how bad the hit below E PLURIB is on the obverse in hand.
