Hi All, Question for you...I've been trying to figure out how you buy rolls of American Eagles from the mint. I see them for sale on ebay but I don't see how you buy them. I do see other rolls available at the mint. Can anyone solve the mystery for me?
Hi, and welcome aboard. The Mint does not sell rolls of bullion (or even individual coins for that matter) directly to the public. They distribute rolls in "monster boxes" to major distributors across the country (there are rolls of silver eagles in green boxes - rolls of gold in red, yellow, blue and black boxes - rolls of platinum in white boxes with little red, yellow, blue and black stickers on them). These major distributors distribute to smaller dealers and to indivduals that can buy a certain minimum quantity. So, you will need to contact one of these bullion dealers or your local dealer (or on the internet) to buy this. The Mint does, however, sell proof versions of bullion directly to the public. These should be coming out later in 2006.
Thanks Tanner...I think you misunderstood me. I wasn't interested (nor could I really afford to) in buying a roll or selling them...just curious. I saw on the mint's site that you can buy others. I appreciate the clarification though. All of it is interesting to me. Regards,
The mint does not sell uncirculated American Eagle coins directly to the public; these are sold to various delaers and distributers, where you can then buy from. However, American Eagle proofs can be bought directly from the Mint at http://www.usmint.gov .
Just received notification that they would be coming out around the end of this month. I believe the date is Feb. 2 to be exact. Side note: These aren't purchased in rolls but in singles only ( from the mint).
