On the reverse it has a shiney part and a normal part I am pretty sure it is post mint, but what could it be caused by. quarter shine.jpg

I agree, looks like paint, White-Out, or something similar.

Iagree, it looks like paint/whiteout but how did they get it on the design and left the fields clear?

The image is not very good it is neither paint or white out the design is holographic. I thought it might belong to some kind of set like the gold plated or the painted quarters. It's pretty and different.

umm, if it's not painted then how can it belong to the painted quarters set?

OH, holographic, ok. Yeah these were part of a set (like the gold-plated, colorized, etc.), versions were made that were holographic. I may be wrong, but it should be a holographic sticker that is applied to the coin. That makes sense why the photo glared like that.

I just happened to check Ebay and they have a ton of them in sets that have been selling for $13.95 per 5 coins per year. I guess someone needed smokes and spent one LOL. I will hang on to it cause I got it in change at face value and thats all it's worth to me. Thanks
